During the summer of 2013, I fixed a number of smaller problems on the second locomotive, and added a painted cab. In July and August I performed test runs on the track of Rading Spoor again.
Things fixed before the run:
- Water pump, now performing correctly
- Broken main steam shut-off valve
- Leakage on water tanks drain connection
- Injector tubing
- Added Valve Gear reversing rods and stand
- Added right-side water tank and
- Painted the Cab.
The test runs provided good results, see the video below for the second track run, late August:
The runs were much better. in total I did more than 6 rounds around the track. This is more than 2.5 km (1.5 miles) distance !
Some runs were completed without stops, sometimes I lost pressure or water level, requiring an intermediate stop.
Some smaller things remain to be fixed:
- Whistle valve is leaking
- Blower pipe connection at the smokebox leaks
- Injector doesn’t react and doesn’t push water into the boiler. Strange, since it is the same brand as the injector on Alberdina. I will swap the two injectors and perform another test,
- The construction of the quick release of the grate is not stable enough.
- The oil pump or oil supply is not 100% delivering oil to the cylinders
- Something to be added here.
So for the coming months, the above items will be addressed, more test runs will be performed, and finally the cladding on the boiler needs to be added still.
To be continued…
